£1,417 raised at M&S show

A great evening was shared by all at Marks & Spencer at the fashion show dedicated to Fiorinas memory and to raise further funds for the Royal Free Charity – Fund 221. As well as organising the show, colleagues and friends of Fiorina provided a great display on the night strutting their stuff on the catwalk sporting the latest range of ladies fashion wear.

Family, friends and customers enjoyed the delights of wine, cake and strawberries provided by M&S whilst the show was taking place. As you can see, donations were healthy and we would like to thank everyone that was there and digged in to their pockets for Fund 221. As well as money collected on the evening, Fiorinas colleagues organised a staff raffle to add further money to Fund 221.

London to Cambridge Cycling challenge – Team revealed!

M&S to host fashion Show

Marks & Spencer, Brookfield Centre at Cheshunt will be holding a Fashion Show of its new Ladies wear range on Wednesday 23rd June, starting at 7.30pm. That evening, there will be collection boxes around the store and any money raised will be donated to Fund 221, the Royal Free Charity’s Pancreatic Cancer fund.

Fiorina was a much loved person inside and outside of work. She worked at the Brookfield Centre Marks & Spencer store for over 10 years where she made many friends both with the staff and the customers. Already we have felt this through the sympathy cards and messages received when Fiorina lost her life and we are still hearing of customers still visiting the store asking after Fiorina only to be told the sad news that Marks & Spencer and especially the Per Una department at the Brookfield Centre lost a popular member of their team.

Fiorina’s friends in the Per Una department have worked tirously to try to find ways to raise money for Fund 221 and the Fashion Show will be the start of many.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Marks & Spencer Plc and especially the hard work and influence of Elaine and Sandra.

Home from Home cycle challenge

We are undertaking a cycle challenge in September/October 2011. The ride from Northaw to Nocciano is dedicated to the life and memory of Fiorina Elliot, who recently lost her brave battle against Pancreatic Cancer on September 18th 2009. Born in a small town called Nocciano, in Italy. Fiorina moved at a very young age to Hertfordshire, England and spent many years living in Northaw. The ride will commence from Rina’s house in Northaw, and finish at her birth place, a small house in Nocciano, Italy.

The purpose of the ride is to raise awareness and money for the Royal Free Charity, Fund 221, a fund setup due to Rina’s personality following her operation and treatment by her surgeon Dr Fusai. All riders will be asked to actively promote the ride and to raise money for the fund.

Provisional ride information:

- Ride date 23rd September to 9th October 2011.
- Countries traveling through; UK, France, Switzerland, Italy
- Distance between 1,300 to 1,400 miles.
- Ride duration between 11 to 12 days.
- Average 100 to 120 miles a day.
- Time required off work 2 weeks.
- Support vehicle, we will have a support vehicle to call upon.
- Accommodation to be booked for end of each day.
- Transportation for getting bikes home will be arranged.

Starting in the UK, the ride will take the team through France and into Switzerland. The team will have to tackle the Alps, entering Italy near Lake Lugano and Lake Como, then head for the coast road to Pescara, and turn right towards Nocciano. The ride is being organised and run by Richard Green and David Appleyard, two of the Ride Strong Team who cycled Land’s End to John O’Groats in 2009.

To date there are a number of riders participating. More information will follow as the planning and details of the ride are confirmed.
